Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! We sure did. The weather seemed to clear up just in time for the holiday. The wind was still a little chilly, but the sun was out finally. Hubby and I took Nina to the park this afternoon to enjoy a walk, a game of fetch, and an opportunity to take some pictures of the quilt I finished a couple weeks ago.

Wonder what the other people at the park thought about me, crazy, hanging blankets in trees to take pictures! This quilt came about from the Windham Fabric brochure on the these fabrics from Lotta Jansdotter. The collection is Glimma and the pattern I used was “It’s a Plus”by Zen Chic. I recently realized that the quilt on the brochure was not the Zen Chic pattern as I thought when I first saw it and started making it, but that it was made by the blogger at Film in the Fridge.

While I loved these fabrics enough to make a quilt out of them, I was stepping outside my color comfort zone with all these yellows, oranges, and especially pink. The result? I love it! So much so that I’ve been joking with my friends that it’s all pink from now on – I’m letting my inner girl out!!! (I mean, I am now getting pedicures with the best of them after my very first one last month!)

The back I pieced with leftovers from the top and then more pink.I tried to get a picture also of the free motion quilting attempt on it too. The quilt so reminded me of warmer seasons as I finished it up at the end of winter, that I quilted flowers into each block.

While taking the pictures, we accidentally found ourselves in the middle of an Easter Egg hunt. I just took the picture and left the egg for the kiddies :)
